MONTROSE MINING COMPANY - Incorporated Under the Laws of the State of
California - I just assumed this was a California company until I found
two references that placed it near OURAY, COLORADO.
This placer gold mining claim was called the Belle of Ouray.
Uncompahgre Mining District. Issued to and signed by company
secretary, E. R. Grant. Vice president, Edward H. Bunker. Picture shows a group of miners filling an ore bucket in a shaft. Price - $150




1898 THE LOTTIE GIBSON MINING & MILLING COMPANY - Incorporated (in March of 1892) Under the Laws of the State of Colorado - Cripple Creek
- Claims included the Jim Blaine, on Mineral Hill. The Guy Fawkes,
Gunpowder Plot and Annie B on Iron Mountain. The Lena and Last Chance
on Big Bull Hill, and of course the Lottie Claim on Bull Hill. Issued
to Taylor J. Downer for 10,000 shares. F. E. Robinson, president and J. Arthur Connell, secretary.

Colorado - This is the first stock I have seen printed on this shade of
green paper. Issued at Denver, CO. The operation was located near Eureka in San Juan County. I am told the company also had offices at Silverton, CO. Produced gold, silver, lead and copper ores. Price - $98.00

- This company worked the Revenue Placers and Lodes in the Alicante
Mining District. It was quite rich in silver. Signed by Francis Doane as vice president. Price - $70.00

THE ZEPHYR MINING COMPANY - Location of Mines in the State of Colorado
- Mines included the Zephyr, Bonnie Bell and Ben Hill, located in
Taylor Gulch 6 miles northwest of Marysville. Veins were 4 to 8 feet in
width containing auriferous galena and pyrite assaying at more than 1
ounce of gold and 40 ounces of silver per ton. (1880s)

THE UNION GOLD MINING COMPANY - Incorporated (in 1892) in Colorado - EL
PASO COUNTY COUNTY, COLORADO printed beneath title. Large,
impressive certificate. The title is printed over a shiny-gold scroll,
surrounded by flowers. This was actually a Cripple Creek mining
operation. Mines included the Orpha May #1 & #2, Delmonico, Pike's
Peak, Solid Muldoon, Forgotten and Adopted, all on the south slope of
Bull Hill. One of the shafts was 900 feet deep. Signed by E. T. Johnson as president and H. C. Morse as secretary. Price - $165

THE MONARCH MINING COMPANY - Of Monarch District, Chaffee County,
Colorado. The Monarch Mine, on the mountain which bears its name, was
located in July of 1878. The host rock was limestone with ore averaging
$75 per ton (my sources did not say what metal was mined). Ore was
hauled in Burro-powered cars on tracks. Unissued. (Most-likely late
1800s)

Detailed
vignette shows many miners (and a couple of horses) working in a
tunnel. The center of the company seal shows stacked bullion bars. The
mining claims that the company owned are also printed on the
certificate as follows: HIGHLAND CHIEF - HIGHLAND MARY - ROBERT BURNS -
GILDEROY - AZTEC
The
Highland Chief operation was located on the summit of Breece Hill
3 miles from Leadville. The ore assayed at 30-50% lead and 15-30 ounces
per ton of silver. The company had a 34 horse-power engine to raise ore
from the shafts.

BOSTON & CRIPPLE CREEK GOLD MINING COMPANY - Incorporated (in 1895)
in Colorado - 100 share certificate issued to Mary Healy. Claims included the Boston, Lennard C, Agnes, Ontario and Etta E, on Tenderfoot Hill. Signed by Samuel Snow as president. Office at Cripple Creek.

Creek, Colorado. In November of 1914, miners working on the 12th level
discovered the legendary Cresson Vug, which in the next four weeks produced $1.2 million in gold (this was at 1915 prices!). The major stockholders included A. E. Carlton and Spencer Penrose. Price - $49.00
