The mining camp and town of Manhattan were in Nye County, 50 miles north of Tonopah, NV. This western town was established in 1905. Many of the mines in the district were quite rich in milling ore and some contained pockets and veins of pure gold! According to the Manhattan, NV business directory from 1907 -1908 the population was 2,000.

1910 ELY CONSOLIDATED COPPER COMPANY - Mines at Ely, Nevada - White Pine County - Incorporated 1906 in Utah. S.M. Levy, president and Gideon Snyder, secretary. Owned 3 groups of claims in the Ely Mining District. One of the mine shafts known as the Brilliant Shaft produced silver-lead ore at the upper levels and copper ore at the bottom.

1916 WHALE MINING COMPANY - This company was incorporated in Utah and had offices there, however, the actual mines were in Clark County, Nevada, near the town of Goodsprings. The town of Goodsprings is not listed in my atlas - possibly a ghost town? The mine had deposits of zinc ore in limestone. Early stock# 12.

The mine was located at Farrell, in Humboldt County, Nevada. Had 3 gold & silver claims and 16 fractions. Signed by H. Sommers as president.
